The Story Behind 1616

Bhutan is not just where we operate. It is home.

I created 1616 Travel Bhutan to share my country in a more personal way. As a Bhutanese guide, I want to take travellers beyond the usual sights and show them some of the Bhutan I know.

I grew up with these valleys, festivals, traditions and everyday ways of life. For me, travelling through Bhutan is not only about seeing places. It is also about the food you try, the people you meet, the stories you hear and the time you spend along the way.

1616 Travel Bhutan is a new company, but the idea behind it comes from a country with a long history and a strong culture.

We create our journeys here in Bhutan, based on what we know and what we believe is worth experiencing. Some trips may follow the familiar routes, while others can take you a little further from them.

We are not trying to become the biggest travel company. We simply want to create good journeys, look after our guests and give them a reason to remember their time in Bhutan.
